Didcot face their first Oxfordshire derby of the season on
Saturday (4th September) when we host Banbury United in the
Zamaretto Premier.
It's early days of course but there's a real buzz about the
club at the moment after two wins in our last three matches. Those results have
put us in mid-table and our highest ever position in the football pyramid. But
things can change very quickly and it's so important we keep up the momentum
while we have a squad free from too many injuries or without suspensions.
Our record against Banbury in recent years is woeful. If memory
serves we are yet to beat the Puritans (in a competitive fixture) since moving
to the Loop Meadow (more than ten years!). But records are there to be broken
and while our home form is still highly unpredictable, we may not have a better
opportunity of getting a rare victory over our county neighbours.
The Puritans sit just three places below us in the table
with one victory, a hugely impressive 2-0 win at then League leaders Chesham
last weekend. This game looks too close to call.
We are expecting a decent crowd for the derby and they will
be treated to a special appearance by the ‘Rangerettes' at halftime. Not to be
missed!

We are delighted to announce a specialist website to cater for our blossoming Youth teams at Didcot Town FC.
The new-look website is accessible via the Youths button on the main menu bar above (you'll find it second from the right, next to the Forum button). You can create your own username and password unique to the Youth section to post on the Youth's only forum.
All of our Youth Teams games start on the weekend of the 11/12th Sept and the new website will
include match reports, photos and league tables as the season progresses.
We are very proud of how the Youth section of the football club has developed over the past two years and we hope that the improved website coverage will increase the interest of our
regular First Team and Reserve supporters into how the youngsters are developing.
We see the future of the club itself in the youngsters of today so that we see many more of the likes of current First Team skipper Jamie Heapy and Vase winner/Reserves wing-back Glyn Jones coming through the youth team ranks.
I'm sure you'll agree the new website looks terrific. Many thanks to Colin Haynes for setting this up and all the very best of luck to all our Youth Teams for the forthcoming campaign. We look forward to reading about how you get-on.
