Stadium A look at the Loop Meadow Stadium, home of Didcot Town FC.

As part of the redevelopment of Didcot town centre, Didcot Town FC were forced to relocate from their old Station Road ground for the start of the 1999/2000 season.  The club moved onto the ever growing Ladygrove housing estate, the other side of the railway-line that cuts the town in two, but only a few hundred yards as the crow flies from the old home.

With great foresight the committee at the time decided to spend the majority of the money raised from selling the Station Road site (land which is now underneath Sainsbury's car-park) on the club infrastructure including a magnificent main pitch.  The training pitch is also regarded as one of the best playing surfaces around, but the ground also boasts a large function room, and executive suite, a thriving bar (called Doddy's in memory of a previous manager) and state of the art physio room.

The first competitve match at the Loop was a 2-0 reverse against fellow Oxfordshire outfit Banbury Utd in front of 220 spectators.   Within 7 years the club would be averaging 270 for home League matches in the Hellenic League and attracting thousands for some of the more high profile matches.

Didcot Town have hosted a number of teams from higher Leagues including Reading, Oxford United, Swindon Town and a Gillingham XI of the Nationwide Leagues.  We have had teams training at our stadium prior to local nationwide matches (Sheffield Wednesday amongst them)  and have also played host to Reading and Oxford Reserves matches in the Combination League along with their various Youth sides.  We had the Australian National Academy side play at the Loop Meadow in 2002, and the Norway U21 International side trained here prior to playing England at the Madejski in 2005..

With planning permission granted for further stands, we are confident that the club can make necessary improvements should we wish to climb the football pyramid.  In the summer of 2005 we added the necessary covered standing area which allowed us to join the Southern League the following season.  In the same year npower extended their Club sponsorship to add npower to the Loop Meadow name.  We hope to be improving facilities at the Loop in the near future providing the funds are secured.

Other visitors to the Loop Meadow include West Ham manager Alan Pardew and the then Assistant coach (now at Northampton Town) John Gorman, along with ex-England manager Kevin Keegan, Peter Beardsley, Jack Charlton, Jimmy Greaves, the late Alan Ball and Peter Osgood, Denis Law, Geoff Hurst, John McGovern, Frank Worthington, Paul Bracewell, Tommy Smith, Eric Gates, Ron Harris, Ricky Villa, Steve Perryman, Norman Hunter and ex-boxing world champion Frank Bruno.
